LET'S VISIT BANDA ACEH

Banda Aceh is the provincial capital of Aceh Province, formerly known as Kutaraja until 1962. On April 22nd, 2016, Banda Aceh celebrated its 814th anniversary.

Today, Banda Aceh is the beating heart of the provincial government administration for economic, cultural and tourism development.

Banda Aceh has fully recovered from tsunami in 2004 which destroyed  60% of the city with approximately 75.000 victims. However, now Banda Acehbegan to emitting charm.

Tsunami Museum
Aceh Tsunami Museum is a museum designed as a symbolic monument to the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami in 2004. It's also used as an educational center as well as escape building if a tsunami occurs again.

Aceh Tsunami Museum designed by an Indonesian architect, Ridwan Kamil. This museum is a four floors structure with an area of 2.500 m2 geometric wall reliefs covered arch.

Visitors enter through a dark narrow corridor between two high walls of water to recreate the atmosphere and panic when tsunami happened. The wall was decorated with the Saman dance, a symbolic meaning to the strength, discipline, and Acehnese religious beliefs.

Baiturrahman Great Mosque
This mosque is a landmark of Banda Aceh. It is located in the middle of the city and become Achenese pride as Verandah of Mecca. It has a long heroic history and a unique architectures which combine Europe and Arab styles.

Floating Diesel Power Station
PLTD Apung (Floating Diesel Power Station) is one of the biggest tourists attraction after earthquake and tsunami occured in 2004. This power station has operated to overcome the electric crisis in Banda Aceh. It is located in Punge Blang Cut village in Jaya Baru sub-district, for about 4 kms from Banda Aceh.
